STELLA PROXIES
A capable developer can build a minimal self-hosted proxy issuance and rotation service, but they cannot reproduce Stella Proxies' global residential/ISP IP pools, scale, and managed support—those are the paid product's durable advantages.

Open-source builds that already do this
Every project below is open source and already does this job today. Fork one, self-host it, or take the parts you need - the build prompt further down assumes an empty file, and this is the shortcut past that. Licences differ; check the one on each card before you ship. All STELLA PROXIES alternatives, with the arithmetic →
What a replacement has to do
- Run and rotate proxy endpoints, authenticate users and issue credentials, store and meter usage, provide a control panel for issuing/rotating proxies and basic logs, handle IP allocation/whitelisting
What it still won’t have
- Access to a large global residential/IP pool (hundreds/thousands of real IPs)
- Provider-level uptime, capacity and geo-diversity
- Scale, measured latency and throughput guarantees
- 24/7 commercial customer support and managed troubleshooting
- Specialized proxy types (sneaker/ticket-optimized) and operational anti-blocking infrastructure
What remains hard
- Infrastructure at scale
Access a vast network of proxies in numerous locations around the globe for unparalleled reach and flexibility.
- Brand trust
The best customer experience in the industry. 24/7 support via Discord to ensure that all your questions and concerns are answered.

Runnable build prompt
Build a single-node managed proxy service using 3proxy + Docker, Postgres, and a Node.js/Express API with a React admin UI. In scope: deploy 3proxy in Docker with per-credential HTTP and SOCKS5, implement credential issuance and rotation endpoints, record connection logs and byte counts in Postgres, provide a React admin page to create credentials, view usage and rotate credentials, implement basic usage metering and CSV export. Out of scope: acquiring or provisioning residential IP addresses, automated global IP provisioning, payment gateway integration, and anti-blocking networks. Include TLS, auth, error handling, and unit/integration tests for API endpoints.
How we checked
How the score was reached
- Partly verdict base52
- An open-source build was found+5
- 4 cited sources+3
- Hard moats found in the evidence-3
- Evidence score57
The base comes from the verdict. Everything under it is a check that either happened or did not, and each one is a fact frozen in this record rather than a judgement made at render time - so the same evidence always produces the same number.
