Customer support decision

RingRobin

A single developer can build a useful core (transcription + summaries + UI) but reproducing full commercial call-intelligence (carrier integrations, enterprise features, polished analytics, and proprietary models/data) is non-trivial, so keep paying for full product unless you only need the narrow workflow.

No pricing page we fetched carried a figure, so there is nothing to compare against. The build side is still real.

No open-source build does this yet

Nothing published replaces this one, so a replacement starts from an empty file. Here is what it would have to cover.

What a replacement has to do

  • Ingest call audio → transcribe → extract insights/summaries → store/search results → present in UI / send notifications

What it still won’t have

  • carrier/telephony partnerships and deep PBX integrations
  • enterprise SLAs, support and onboarding
  • proprietary call training data and model fine-tuning
  • polished multi-tenant UI, analytics dashboards, and long-term retention features

What remains hard

  • Product polish and ongoing maintenance

Build a minimal call-intelligence service using Node.js (Express), Postgres, S3, and a small React frontend. Core features in scope: HTTP endpoint to upload call audio and metadata; scheduled worker to transcribe audio using a cloud speech-to-text API; an LLM-based pipeline to extract call summaries, tags, and action items; store transcripts and metadata in Postgres and a simple full-text search (PG full-text or Elasticsearch); React UI to list calls, play audio, view transcript with highlights and search; a webhook endpoint to accept telephony events. Out of scope: multi-tenant billing, PBX carrier integrations, advanced analytics. Include error handling, retries for failed transcriptions, logging, and unit/integration tests for API endpoints and worker logic.

How the score was reached

  • Partly verdict base52
  • Evidence score52

The base comes from the verdict. Everything under it is a check that either happened or did not, and each one is a fact frozen in this record rather than a judgement made at render time - so the same evidence always produces the same number.
