REP Gym Pass

A single developer can implement the core marketplace and check-in flows in about a week and run a usable replacement, but the product's main durable value is its existing network of partnered gyms and brand/operations, which a DIY rebuild won't reproduce.

No open-source build does this yet

Nothing published replaces this one, so a replacement starts from an empty file. Here is what it would have to cover.

What a replacement has to do

  • Discover independent gyms, purchase a time-bound REP pass, view participating gyms, and check in at a gym (QR or code).

What it still won’t have

  • Pre-existing network of 240+ partnered gyms and their negotiated acceptance of a single pass
  • Brand recognition, marketing reach, and existing gym-partner relationships
  • Native mobile apps and any platform-specific features (push notifications, app-store distribution)
  • Operational services such as gym onboarding, influencer partnerships, and large-scale customer support

What remains hard

  • Marketplace liquidityExplore over 240+ independently owned gyms all on REP Gym Pass.

Build a minimal REP-like web app using Next.js (React) + PostgreSQL (Supabase or Render Postgres) + Stripe for payments. Core features: user signup/login, gym listing CRUD and geo-search, purchase flow issuing a time-limited pass record, QR code generation for each issued pass, a /checkin endpoint that validates QR and marks pass usage, and a responsive public site to browse gyms. Out of scope: building native iOS/Android apps, large-scale partner onboarding tooling, influencer or marketing workflows, and automated reconciliation with third-party gym systems. Include error handling, server-side input validation, integration tests for payment and check-in flows, and deployment scripts (Docker or platform config).

How the score was reached

  • Pay verdict base20
  • 3/3 assessment runs agreed+4
  • Hard moats found in the evidence-3
  • Evidence score21

The base comes from the verdict. Everything under it is a check that either happened or did not, and each one is a fact frozen in this record rather than a judgement made at render time - so the same evidence always produces the same number.
