Analytics and monitoring decision

Rankr

A minimal Rankr replacement (daily prompt runner, storage, simple metrics, dashboard) is practical for a single engineer using OSS building blocks, but reproducing the full commercial polish, integrations, and managed insights of the paid product is not realistic without more time or vendor features.

Open-source builds that already do this

Every project below is open source and already does this job today. Fork one, self-host it, or take the parts you need - the build prompt further down assumes an empty file, and this is the shortcut past that. Licences differ; check the one on each card before you ship. All Rankr alternatives, with the arithmetic →

What a replacement has to do

  • Run a set of customer-intent prompts daily against multiple LLM endpoints, store full answers, extract mentions/sources and sentiment, aggregate metrics (visibility/position/share-of-voice), and display them in a dashboard with per-prompt history.

What it still won’t have

  • Polished commercial UX and onboarding
  • Guaranteed support, SLA, and priority assistance
  • Any proprietary integrations Rankr may run to access certain hosted model endpoints
  • AI-generated weekly insights tuned by Rankr's internal rules and heuristics

What remains hard

  • Product polish and ongoing maintenance

Runnable build prompt

Not run yet
Build a self-hosted Rankr-lite: use Node.js (Express) + Postgres for backend, Redis + BullMQ for scheduled daily jobs, Next.js for frontend, and deploy to Vercel (frontend) + a small VPS (backend) or Render. Core features in scope: (1) user auth and single-seat account management, (2) prompt management UI to add/edit tracking prompts, (3) scheduler that runs prompts daily against configurable LLM APIs, (4) store raw responses and extracted citations in Postgres, (5) compute and surface visibility/position/share-of-voice and sentiment scores, (6) dashboard with model-by-model trend charts and a live mentions feed, (7) Stripe integration for paid plan. Out of scope: enterprise multi-seat RBAC, advanced AI insight generation, integrations with MCP or proprietary model endpoints, and polished onboarding. Include error handling for API failures, retries, rate-limit backoff, tests for scheduler, parsing, and core API endpoints, and deployment scripts (docker-compose).

How the score was reached

  • Partly verdict base52
  • An open-source build was found+5
  • 5 cited sources+3
  • Price verified on pricing page+3
  • Evidence score63

The base comes from the verdict. Everything under it is a check that either happened or did not, and each one is a fact frozen in this record rather than a judgement made at render time - so the same evidence always produces the same number.
