Quran Unlock

A capable iOS developer can build a basic reader+blocking workflow, but reproducing the full paid product (polished blocking across iOS versions, licensed recitations, translations, App Store traction) is a multi-week effort and not fully covered by the supplied open-source prior art.

Open-source builds that already do this

Every project below is open source and already does this job today. Fork one, self-host it, or take the parts you need - the build prompt further down assumes an empty file, and this is the shortcut past that. Licences differ; check the one on each card before you ship. All Quran Unlock alternatives, with the arithmetic →

What a replacement has to do

  • Lock selected apps via iOS Screen Time until the user reads a short Quran passage; record progress, unlock apps when read-time threshold met; repeat per prayer window.

What it still won’t have

  • Polished App Store presence, discovery and existing 300k+ user base
  • Curated reciters and possibly licensed audio recordings listed in the app (Mishary, Husary, Alafasy)
  • Multi-language built translations/localizations and ongoing content updates
  • Polish around blocking reliability across iOS versions and edge-case handling enforced by the original app

Runnable build prompt

Not run yet
Build a native iOS app in Swift + SwiftUI that reproduces the smallest useful subset of Quran Unlock: use Apple's ScreenTime framework to block/unblock a user-selected app list, implement a Quran reader (mushaf pages) with AVPlayer-based audio playback and word/ayah highlighting, add a prayer-time scheduler (location-based) and local notifications, persist per-prayer goals and streaks in Core Data, and implement StoreKit subscription gating for unlimited blocks. Out of scope: multi-language localization beyond English, licensed third‑party reciter procurement, analytics backend, server components. Include error handling for ScreenTime/permission failures, offline-first behavior, unit/UI tests for core flows, and CI to run tests.

How the score was reached

  • Partly verdict base52
  • An open-source build was found+5
  • 4 cited sources+3
  • 3/3 assessment runs agreed+4
  • Evidence score64

The base comes from the verdict. Everything under it is a check that either happened or did not, and each one is a fact frozen in this record rather than a judgement made at render time - so the same evidence always produces the same number.
