PureResist: NoFap Quit ****
A capable developer can build and maintain a limited PureResist replacement (habit tracker, journaling, panic button, basic chat) in a few dozen workdays using existing open-source habit apps and managed backends; the vendor's community, mentor network, and content library are not reproduced.

Open-source builds that already do this
Every project below is open source and already does this job today. Fork one, self-host it, or take the parts you need - the build prompt further down assumes an empty file, and this is the shortcut past that. Licences differ; check the one on each card before you ship. All PureResist: NoFap Quit **** alternatives, with the arithmetic →
What a replacement has to do
- Track daily abstinence (streaks), record journal entries, use panic button for immediate coping, view progress dashboard, optionally message mentors/peers.
What it still won’t have
- Established user community size and network effects
- Any proprietary mentor relationships or paid mentorship matching
- Polished app-store experience and existing user testimonials/brand
- Curated/expanded educational library and research-backed content bundle
What remains hard
- Product polish and ongoing maintenance

Runnable build prompt
Build a minimal cross-platform self-hostable PureResist replacement using: React Native (Expo) for mobile, Next.js for a web dashboard, Firebase (Auth, Firestore, Cloud Messaging) for backend, Vercel for web hosting and Expo EAS for builds. In scope: (1) Email/password + OAuth auth and profile pages; (2) Habit/streak model with Firestore schema, endpoints, and client UI; (3) Dashboard with basic analytics (streak length, success rate, time-series chart); (4) Journal CRUD with search; (5) Panic button that records an event, pushes a FCM notification to the device and writes an alert document to Firestore for a trusted contact; (6) Simple one-to-one chat UI backed by Firestore realtime messages; (7) Static informational content pages (Learn). Out of scope: payment/subscription billing, advanced community moderation, mentor matching algorithms, and polished App Store release assets. Require input validation, error handling, retries for network failures, authentication guards, unit tests for core business logic (streak calculation, journaling), and end-to-end test for signup->track->panic flow.
How we checked
How the score was reached
- Partly verdict base52
- An open-source build was found+5
- 4 cited sources+3
- Evidence score60
The base comes from the verdict. Everything under it is a check that either happened or did not, and each one is a fact frozen in this record rather than a judgement made at render time - so the same evidence always produces the same number.
