Automation and integrations decision
Pulld
A technical user can avoid paying by self-hosting an open-source tracker (e.g. Traccar) rather than reimplementing Pulld; building a full, polished commercial product from scratch is multi-week and not recommended.

Open-source builds that already do this
Every project below is open source and already does this job today. Fork one, self-host it, or take the parts you need - the build prompt further down assumes an empty file, and this is the shortcut past that. Licences differ; check the one on each card before you ship. All Pulld alternatives, with the arithmetic →
What a replacement has to do
- Receive GPS/tlm from vehicles -> persist location & telemetry -> stream updates to map/clients -> show history and alerts
What it still won’t have
- Vendor support and SLAs
- Polished, productized UI/UX and onboarding flows
- Proprietary device firmware integration or provisioning offered by vendor
- Hosted scaling, monitoring, and managed map tile/traffic services
What remains hard
- Product polish and ongoing maintenance
First-year cost
No published price
Pulld does not publish a price we could read, so there is nothing to compare against. What building costs is below.

What we assumed
The verdict above measures whether you could build it. This one is only about money.
Runnable build prompt
Build a self-hosted EV tracking service using Traccar (Java) + Postgres + Nginx. In scope: install and configure Traccar server, enable device protocol endpoints (HTTP/MQTT/TCP), configure Postgres with spatial indexes for location history, set up Nginx with TLS and basic auth, deploy traccar-web for live map and device management, implement simple geofence/alert rules, and add automated backups. Out of scope: reimplementing Traccar core protocols, custom firmware, or proprietary hosted scaling. Include error handling, health checks, and automated tests for ingestion and map rendering.
How we checked
How the score was reached
- Partly verdict base52
- An open-source build was found+5
- 3 cited sources+3
- Evidence score60
The base comes from the verdict. Everything under it is a check that either happened or did not, and each one is a fact frozen in this record rather than a judgement made at render time - so the same evidence always produces the same number.
