Pouch Quit

A technical user can build a useful subset (logging, counters, notifications) in reasonable time, but reproducing the complete polished, content-rich paid product with app-store polish and retention features is multi-week and likely better kept paid unless you only need the narrow core workflow.

No pricing page we fetched carried a figure, so there is nothing to compare against. The build side is still real.

No published price to break even against.

No open-source build does this yet

Nothing published replaces this one, so a replacement starts from an empty file. Here is what it would have to cover.

What a replacement has to do

  • Log pouch use and cravings → update days-nicotine-free and money-saved counters → show progress and trigger coping tools/notifications.

What it still won’t have

  • Polished native UI/UX and multi-device widgets/optimizations
  • Curated daily motivational content and expert tips
  • App Store reviews/visibility and existing user base
  • Localized translations and iterative product improvements

What remains hard

  • Product polish and ongoing maintenance

Build a single-developer iOS app (Swift + SwiftUI) that provides pouch/craving logging, a days-nicotine-free counter, money-saved calculation, basic milestone charts, local notifications for reminders, and App Store in-app subscription gating for premium features. Include: CoreData for storage, local background scheduling for reminders, a panic-mode screen with breathing exercise timer, export/import of user's log CSV, unit tests for data and business logic, and basic UI tests. Out of scope: training models, multi-platform web backend, social features, and advanced behavior-change content sequencing. Provide error handling for storage and purchase failures, and include CI to run tests on push.

How the score was reached

  • Partly verdict base52
  • 3/3 assessment runs agreed+4
  • Evidence score56

The base comes from the verdict. Everything under it is a check that either happened or did not, and each one is a fact frozen in this record rather than a judgement made at render time - so the same evidence always produces the same number.
