Lite Feedback

A competent engineer can build the collection widget, API and basic board in a few weeks, but reproducing the hosted product’s polished UX, built-in AI triage quality, and turnkey integrations is non-trivial — so build a narrow self-hosted replacement for core workflows or keep paying for the full hosted experience.

Open-source builds that already do this

Every project below is open source and already does this job today. Fork one, self-host it, or take the parts you need - the build prompt further down assumes an empty file, and this is the shortcut past that. Licences differ; check the one on each card before you ship. All Lite Feedback alternatives, with the arithmetic →

What a replacement has to do

  • Collect feedback via a small JS widget, persist it, run an LLM to tag/sentiment/translate, surface items in a simple board UI, and send notifications/webhooks.

What it still won’t have

  • Polished hosted dashboard and UX polish
  • Built-in AI triage tuned for feedback flows
  • Hosted, maintained infra and uptime guarantees
  • Out-of-the-box platform integrations and install guides
  • Product support and roadmap

Build a lightweight feedback-collection service using Next.js (React) for the dashboard, a small Node/Express API, and Postgres on Supabase. Core features in scope: (1) an embeddable single-line JS widget that POSTs feedback and page/device metadata to the API, (2) REST endpoints to receive feedback and an Identify endpoint to attach user IDs, (3) storage schema for feedback items, tags, status, sentiment and source domain, (4) an admin board UI with columns, filtering, reply composer that sends translated replies, (5) integration with an external LLM (OpenAI/Anthropic) to classify category/status/sentiment and translate replies, (6) outbound notifications via webhook/Slack/Telegram and daily digest emails, (7) CI, basic auth for the dashboard, error handling, logging, and unit+integration tests. Out of scope: multi-tenant billing, advanced roadmap pages, watermark/hide-by-plan features, analytics dashboards beyond counts. Require retries for network calls, validation on all endpoints, and tests covering API, LLM integration mocks, and core UI flows.

How the score was reached

  • Partly verdict base52
  • An open-source build was found+5
  • 4 cited sources+3
  • Price verified on pricing page+3
  • 3/3 assessment runs agreed+4
  • Evidence score67

The base comes from the verdict. Everything under it is a check that either happened or did not, and each one is a fact frozen in this record rather than a judgement made at render time - so the same evidence always produces the same number.
