Forms and surveys decision

Insighto

A competent technical user can replace Insighto by self-hosting or building a similar feedback board (prior-art projects like LogChimp exist); the core product is implementable without proprietary data or infra moat, though you trade polish, integrations, and vendor ops.

Open-source builds that already do this

Every project below is open source and already does this job today. Fork one, self-host it, or take the parts you need - the build prompt further down assumes an empty file, and this is the shortcut past that. Licences differ; check the one on each card before you ship. All Insighto alternatives, with the arithmetic →

What a replacement has to do

  • Users submit feature requests; others upvote and discuss; admins triage and mark status.

What it still won’t have

  • Polish and UX refinements of the hosted product
  • Built-in integrations (payment, SSO, analytics hooks) unless added
  • Hosted uptime/scale SLAs and operational monitoring
  • Automatic feature updates and vendor support

What remains hard

  • Product polish and ongoing maintenance

Runnable build prompt

Not run yet
Build a self-hosted feedback-board web app using Next.js (React) for frontend, Node.js + Express for API, and Postgres for storage; deploy to a single VPS or a small cloud service (DigitalOcean/GCP). In scope: public feedback board (list, search, filters), submission form with optional images, comments, upvotes, user auth via magic links (email), admin dashboard to change status/priority and apply one of several themes, ability to set a custom domain, and CI + Docker deployment. Out of scope: multi-tenant billing, advanced analytics pipelines, paid plan management. Include input validation, rate-limiting, error handling, basic tests for API routes and critical UI flows, and a README with deploy and backup steps.

How the score was reached

  • Build verdict base78
  • An open-source build was found+5
  • 3 cited sources+3
  • Evidence score86

The base comes from the verdict. Everything under it is a check that either happened or did not, and each one is a fact frozen in this record rather than a judgement made at render time - so the same evidence always produces the same number.
