Headspace
A minimal Headspace-like service (streaming meditation library + family subscription) is buildable by a single developer in ~30 hours, but you cannot replicate Headspace's licensed content, clinical services, enterprise integrations, brand, or regulatory/insurance eligibility—so running a full replacement isn't realistic.

Every project below is open source and already does this job today. Fork one, self-host it, or take the parts you need — the build prompt further down assumes an empty file, and this is the shortcut past that. Licences differ; check the one on each card before you ship.
What a replacement has to do
- User signs up → browse & stream audio meditation content → track sessions in user profile → restrict access by subscription/family membership.
What it still won’t have
- Licensed, proprietary audio content and production quality
- Clinical services (therapy, coaching, psychiatry) and insurance integrations
- Brand recognition and trust built by Headspace
- Enterprise offerings and demos for employers
What remains hard
- Brand trust
Over 4,000 leading organizations choose Headspace
- Compliance and regulation

What we assumed
The verdict above measures whether you could build it. This one is only about money.
Runnable build prompt
Build a single-tenant web app (React frontend, Node/Express backend, Postgres DB, S3+CloudFront for audio) that implements: user registration/login, family-account owner who pays via Stripe yearly (one owner seat), invite and accept family members by shared address, upload/import a small catalog of meditation audio (MP3) with metadata, browse & stream audio with simple progress tracking, and an account page showing membership and billing. Out of scope: mobile native apps, licensed/professional therapy, AI coaching, enterprise admin portal. Include error handling, input validation, unit tests for API routes, and deployment scripts for AWS (CloudFormation or Terraform).
How we checked
How the score was reached
- Partly verdict base52
- An open-source build was found+5
- 3 cited sources+3
- 3/3 assessment runs agreed+4
- Hard moats found in the evidence-3
- Evidence score61
The base comes from the verdict. Everything under it is a check that either happened or did not, and each one is a fact frozen in this record rather than a judgement made at render time — so the same evidence always produces the same number.
