Websites and hosting decision
Globalsites
A single technical user can build and maintain a small multilingual static-site boilerplate using existing frameworks and translation APIs; Globalsites appears to be a packaged boilerplate and repo access rather than a service with irreversible moats.

Open-source builds that already do this
Every project below is open source and already does this job today. Fork one, self-host it, or take the parts you need - the build prompt further down assumes an empty file, and this is the shortcut past that. Licences differ; check the one on each card before you ship. All Globalsites alternatives, with the arithmetic →
What a replacement has to do
- Author content in one language -> run static build that generates per-language HTML via i18next and AI translation -> validate HTML, sitemap, robots -> deploy static files to a CDN
What it still won’t have
- Access to the vendor's packaged repository and any manual support the vendor provides
- Any bespoke theme or polish included in the paid package
- Vendor-managed updates/hand-holding for granting repo access
What remains hard
- Product polish and ongoing maintenance
First-year cost
No published price
Globalsites does not publish a price we could read, so there is nothing to compare against. What building costs is below.

What we assumed
The verdict above measures whether you could build it. This one is only about money.
Runnable build prompt
Build a multilingual static-site boilerplate using Next.js (or Hugo) with i18next for string management, a Node build script that: (1) ingests source pages in one language, (2) optionally calls Google Translate API to produce translations into N target languages, (3) renders static HTML per-language with per-language URL structure, (4) generates sitemap.xml and robots.txt covering all language URLs, (5) provides a client-side language-switcher that updates URL and persists preference. Include a CI workflow to run HTML validation and deploy to Vercel or Netlify. Out of scope: premium themes, manual paid repo access, or paid vendor support. Require API error handling, build/retry logic for translation calls, automated tests for build outputs (unit tests for build functions and an integration test that validates sitemap and a handful of rendered pages), and documentation for deploying and granting repo access.
How we checked
How the score was reached
- Build verdict base78
- An open-source build was found+5
- 5 cited sources+3
- 3/3 assessment runs agreed+4
- Evidence score90
The base comes from the verdict. Everything under it is a check that either happened or did not, and each one is a fact frozen in this record rather than a judgement made at render time - so the same evidence always produces the same number.
