Esplotter

A capable developer can implement a minimal ESPlotter-like desktop tool (parsers + interactive plots) but reproducing the full polished product—especially reliable TSAT/SSAT Windows integration, cross-platform installers, QA and support—is multi-week work and better suited to keeping the paid product for production teams.

No open-source build does this yet

Nothing published replaces this one, so a replacement starts from an empty file. Here is what it would have to cover.

What a replacement has to do

  • Load simulation file → parse channels/eigenvalues → render interactive time-series or complex-plane plots → export images/CSV

What it still won’t have

  • Polished commercial UX and product polish
  • Priority support and fast-track feature requests
  • Guaranteed compatibility with TSAT/SSAT on Windows and tested edge-case parsing
  • Installer/packaging quality and cross-platform installers
  • Ongoing product updates and bug fixes from vendor

What remains hard

  • Product polish and ongoing maintenance

Build a cross-platform desktop app (Electron + React or Tauri + Solid/React) that reads PSS/E .out, CSV, TXT and (on Windows) TSAT/SSAT .bin files, parses channels and eigenvalues, and provides an interactive plotting workspace. In scope: file parsers for .out/CSV/TXT, Windows-only loader for TSAT/SSAT with fallback error messaging, interactive time-series charts (zoom/pan, per-series style, independent Y-axes), complex-plane eigenvalue plots, export chart images and export modified data to CSV/TXT, installer packaging for Windows and macOS, thorough error handling, and unit/integration tests for parsing and exports. Out of scope: proprietary binary reverse-engineering beyond documented formats, training ML models, cloud syncing, and multi-user collaboration. Require robust input validation, user-facing error messages, and automated tests covering parsers and export functions.

How the score was reached

  • Partly verdict base52
  • Price verified on pricing page+3
  • 3/3 assessment runs agreed+4
  • Evidence score59

The base comes from the verdict. Everything under it is a check that either happened or did not, and each one is a fact frozen in this record rather than a judgement made at render time - so the same evidence always produces the same number.
