Websites and hosting decision
Directory Launch
A competent technical user can build and self-host the useful replacement quickly using the documented Next.js + Supabase stack; the vendor offers convenience (lifetime license, done-for-you launch) but no durable moats are evident from the pages.

Not priced
No pricing page we fetched carried a figure, so there is nothing to compare against. The build side is still real.
$50one-off18 h to build
$25/mo6 h/mo upkeep
No published price to break even against.
No open-source build does this yet
Nothing published replaces this one, so a replacement starts from an empty file. Here is what it would have to cover.
What a replacement has to do
- Configure the repo for your brand, deploy the Next.js site, accept submissions and payments, approve listings in the admin panel, and manage listings/monetization.
What it still won’t have
- Lifetime updates bundled with a paid license
- Done-for-you launch service (domain, deploy, seeding) offered on the vendor plan
- Vendor-provided AI enrichment tooling and prebuilt AI prompts
- Pre-polished admin UI and built-in monetization flows packaged out of the box
What remains hard
- Product polish and ongoing maintenance
First-year cost
No published price
Directory Launch does not publish a price we could read, so there is nothing to compare against. What building costs is below.

The verdict above measures whether you could build it. This one is only about money.
Runnable build prompt
Build a minimal self-hostable directory boilerplate using Next.js 16 + TypeScript, TailwindCSS + shadcn/ui, Supabase (Postgres, Auth, Storage) and Stripe for payments. Core features in scope: site.config-driven branding, submissions with validation and admin approval panel, searchable listing index with categories/tags, Stripe-paid premium listings and webhook handling, transactional emails via Resend, CSV import/seed utility, and Vercel deployment settings. Out of scope: a hosted managed launch service and a vendor one-time purchase flow. Include environment-driven config, error handling, CI test suite for key flows (signup, submission, payment webhook), and setup docs for provisioning Supabase and Stripe keys.
How we checked
How the score was reached
- Build verdict base78
- 2 cited sources+1
- Price verified on pricing page+3
- Evidence score82
The base comes from the verdict. Everything under it is a check that either happened or did not, and each one is a fact frozen in this record rather than a judgement made at render time - so the same evidence always produces the same number.
