DevOps Daily

Self-host the existing open-source site repository rather than rebuilding or paying; setup and ongoing ops are small and achievable by one technical user.

Open-source builds that already do this

Every project below is open source and already does this job today. Fork one, self-host it, or take the parts you need - the build prompt further down assumes an empty file, and this is the shortcut past that. Licences differ; check the one on each card before you ship. All DevOps Daily alternatives, with the arithmetic →

What a replacement has to do

  • Stand up a self-hosted instance of the site (static site + client-side simulators + newsletter signup).

What it still won’t have

  • Existing editorial brand and trust (readership effects and reputation)
  • The site's existing subscriber list and newsletter audience unless exported from the vendor
  • Any proprietary content pipelines, commercial integrations or paid sponsorship relationships

What remains hard

Runnable build prompt

Not run yet
Build a self-hosted instance of DevOps Daily using the public repository https://github.com/The-DevOps-Daily/devops-daily. Stack: Node 18 (or specified repo runtime), run the repo's build script to generate static assets, deploy to Netlify/Vercel or S3+CloudFront, and enable HTTPS. In scope: clone repo, install dependencies, run build, configure hosting, wire a newsletter signup to SendGrid (or SMTP) storing subscribers in a simple CSV or small Postgres, enable client-side search (Lunr) over markdown content, and ensure interactive simulators run purely in the browser. Out of scope: reimplementing editorial workflow or designing new simulators from scratch. Include error handling for build failures, CDN cache invalidation, subscription form validation, and automated tests for the site build and newsletter integration.

How the score was reached

  • Build verdict base78
  • An open-source build was found+5
  • 4 cited sources+3
  • Evidence score86

The base comes from the verdict. Everything under it is a check that either happened or did not, and each one is a fact frozen in this record rather than a judgement made at render time - so the same evidence always produces the same number.
