Automation and integrations decision

Dashla

A single developer can build a useful mobile dashboard (speedometer, map, basic telemetry) in a multi-week effort, but reproducing the vendor polish, broad device compatibility, and ongoing App Store distribution/support is nontrivial; a narrow self-built replacement is realistic.

No pricing page we fetched carried a figure, so there is nothing to compare against. The build side is still real.

No published price to break even against.

No open-source build does this yet

Nothing published replaces this one, so a replacement starts from an empty file. Here is what it would have to cover.

What a replacement has to do

  • Display live vehicle telemetry (speed, gear, battery) and navigation on a phone UI, updating in real time while driving.

What it still won’t have

  • Polished App Store release, branding, and in-app purchase billing flows
  • Ongoing UX polish and frequent UI/UX updates seen in the store listing
  • Quality-tested device compatibility across many iPhone models
  • Support, bug triage, and beta program access built by the vendor

What remains hard

  • Product polish and ongoing maintenance

Runnable build prompt

Not run yet
Build a cross-platform iOS SwiftUI app (Swift 5, iOS 17+) that acts as a Tesla-style mobile dashboard. Core features in scope: OAuth/token-based Tesla owner API or connect-to-local-OBD adapter (support token input and Bluetooth LE adapter), real-time telemetry polling and normalization (speed, gear, battery, tire pressure), a responsive dashboard UI with configurable panels (speedometer, map panel, music/lyrics panel, vehicle status), maps integration using Mapbox iOS SDK (tiles + ETA), pairing/reconnect flows and battery/performance power modes. Out of scope: App Store in-app purchase backend, multi-user cloud sync, paid analytics. Deliverables: runnable Xcode project, unit tests for telemetry parsing, UI snapshot tests for main panels, error handling for network/permission failures, README with setup and how to obtain Tesla token or pair common OBD adapters. Include CI build script and basic privacy notice.

How the score was reached

  • Partly verdict base52
  • 3/3 assessment runs agreed+4
  • Evidence score56

The base comes from the verdict. Everything under it is a check that either happened or did not, and each one is a fact frozen in this record rather than a judgement made at render time - so the same evidence always produces the same number.
