Code & Creed
A single competent developer can recreate the essential searchable docs + AI assistant for Code&Creed in about a week using existing OSS (e.g., LaunchStack) and managed providers; the vendor's brand, community, and any paid accelerator services would be lost.

Open-source builds that already do this
Every project below is open source and already does this job today. Fork one, self-host it, or take the parts you need - the build prompt further down assumes an empty file, and this is the shortcut past that. Licences differ; check the one on each card before you ship. All Code & Creed alternatives, with the arithmetic →
What a replacement has to do
- Read and search accelerator docs, ask an AI assistant for guidance, follow step-by-step startup playbooks.
What it still won’t have
- Proprietary curated curriculum sequencing and any paid accelerator services (mentorship, cohort management)
- Brand, community, and any closed resources bundled by Code&Creed
- Polish and cross-linking present in the hosted product (automated onboarding flows and pre-made company templates)
What remains hard
- Product polish and ongoing maintenance
First-year cost
No published price
Code & Creed does not publish a price we could read, so there is nothing to compare against. What building costs is below.

What we assumed
The verdict above measures whether you could build it. This one is only about money.
Runnable build prompt
Build a minimal self-hosted Startup Accelerator web app using Next.js (React) on Vercel, Postgres with pgvector on a managed provider (Neon/Heroku), and an LLM API (OpenAI). Core features in scope: import Markdown or HTML docs, build an indexing pipeline to chunk and embed docs into pgvector, provide a site search and a chat UI that retrieves top-k passages and calls the LLM for contextual answers, and serve a responsive docs site with client navigation. Out of scope: cohort management dashboard, paid billing flows, mentorship scheduling, and community/forum features. Include authentication (email or GitHub), basic logging, error handling, and unit/integration tests for the indexer and chat retrieval logic.
How we checked
How the score was reached
- Build verdict base78
- An open-source build was found+5
- 3 cited sources+3
- 3/3 assessment runs agreed+4
- Evidence score90
The base comes from the verdict. Everything under it is a check that either happened or did not, and each one is a fact frozen in this record rather than a judgement made at render time - so the same evidence always produces the same number.
