Audio and podcasting decision
AudioX
A technical user can self-host a useful text-to-music replacement using open models and existing WebUIs (eg. TTS-WebUI), but reproducing AudioX's full integrated studio, model catalog, scale, and hosted convenience is non-trivial.

Open-source builds that already do this
Every project below is open source and already does this job today. Fork one, self-host it, or take the parts you need - the build prompt further down assumes an empty file, and this is the shortcut past that. Licences differ; check the one on each card before you ship. All AudioX alternatives, with the arithmetic →
What a replacement has to do
- Prompt -> generate music with an open model -> store file -> play/download
What it still won’t have
- Hosted priority queue, scale and uptime guarantees
- Managed model updates and a catalog of proprietary/paid models
- Integrated video/avatar/image features and multi-media studio UI
- Commercial SLA, 24/7 support, and any vendor-provided content licensing/extended rights
What remains hard
- Product polish and ongoing maintenance

What we assumed
The verdict above measures whether you could build it. This one is only about money.
Runnable build prompt
Build a self-hosted minimal AudioX replacement: use Python 3.10+, Hugging Face diffusers + a MusicGen or AudioGen checkpoint for text-to-music inference, a Gradio front-end for prompt input/playback/download, a Celery/RQ background worker for model runs, and local filesystem storage behind nginx for HTTPS. Core features: prompt->generate audio, show progress, stream and download outputs, basic single-user auth, disk retention/cleanup, logging, and tests for API and UI flows. Out of scope: video generation, avatar pipelines, paid credit accounting, multi-tenant billing. Include error handling, model load-time safeguards, and unit/integration tests.
How we checked
How the score was reached
- Partly verdict base52
- An open-source build was found+5
- 3 cited sources+3
- Price verified on pricing page+3
- 3/3 assessment runs agreed+4
- Evidence score67
The base comes from the verdict. Everything under it is a check that either happened or did not, and each one is a fact frozen in this record rather than a judgement made at render time - so the same evidence always produces the same number.
