Melo alternatives
2 open-source projects that already do this job. Free to use - not free to run, which is what the numbers on the right are for.

What you give up either way
- macOS native polish and OS-level window tiling/gesture integration (hand-tracking, clap-to-summon)
- desktop pets, themes & fonts variety and other UI polish
- prebuilt integrations and the vendor’s bundled lifetime license experience
- offline local model hosting and any proprietary model optimizations
An open-source project doing the core job proves a replacement is possible. It does not prove it matches Melo, and it does not prove anyone has run it for a month. How we decide.
