What you give up either way

Native polished iOS App Store distribution and platform-specific UX
Built-in push notifications tied to iOS native APIs
Existing App Store reviews/visibility and in‑app purchase plumbing
Developer-provided backup/sync service and lifetime purchase option

An open-source project doing the core job proves a replacement is possible. It does not prove it matches FamilyPoints, and it does not prove anyone has run it for a month. How we decide.
