What you give up either way
- Polished native iOS/Android apps and App Store distribution
- Vendor-run EU-hosted production infrastructure and SLA/support
- Refined gamification polish, many built-in badges/achievements and design animations
- Any proprietary analytics, user base and community features (eg. leaderboard vs 50k users)
- Built-in Stripe billing flows and refund guarantees
An open-source project doing the core job proves a replacement is possible. It does not prove it matches Athenify, and it does not prove anyone has run it for a month. How we decide.
