What you give up either way

Polished commercial dashboard polish, analytics, and UX polish
Built-in payment handling, receipts and refund workflows (unless implemented)
Hosted branding, support, and marketing reach
Legal, billing, and consumer-facing guarantees (refund policy, support SLAs)

An open-source project doing the core job proves a replacement is possible. It does not prove it matches ActivityProof, and it does not prove anyone has run it for a month. How we decide.
